Due: 11:00 AM, Monday February 28, 2000 Upload your answers in the appropriate format to your student directories. Read chapters 5 and 6 of Fowler and then answer the following questions. Chapter 6 talks about a number of the more obscure aspects of UML diagrams and are used much less frequently. Read this chapter lightly so that you are aware of the concepts and have some idea about where they might be useful. You can read about them in more detail when you need the information. The questions about chapter 6, below suggest the level of understanding you should be acquiring in your reading and in class. 1. What kind of system behavior is modeled by interaction diagrams? Describe one example of such behavior and how it is modeled. Your example should involve at least three classes and at least for interactions. 2. Draw an interaction diagram for the example you gave in response to question 1. 3. Collaboration diagrams are used to model the same kind of system behavior as interaction diagrams but they emphasize different aspects of system behavior. How are the two diagrams different? 4. Draw a collaboration diagram for the example you gave in response to question 1. 5. How are interaction and collaboration diagrams the same? How are they different? Assume that readers of your answer know what the two diagrams look like so that you can concentrate on the different emphasis of the two diagrams. 6. What are CRC cards? How are they used in system analysis and design? 7. Compare and contrast the information presented in figures 6-1 and 6-2. When would you use these two diagrams? 8. In narrative form, describe the information conveyed by figure 6-4. 9. What are derived associations and attributes? Give an example of each. The named individuals are to present their answers to the question with the number shown. I will bring transparencies of Figures 6-1, 6-2, and 6-4 to class. 1. Ying Zhou 2. Shuyu Zou 3.
