On this page you will find course-related announcements.  You should check this page at least once a week.

12/4 Papers are due by 4PM on Friday.  Make sure you also pick up the exam before 4PM on Friday and return it to Rosa by 2PM on Monday.

10/17 The on-line faculty/course evaluation is not working and it doesn't look like it will  be up any time soon.  I will figure out some other way for you to get me feedback about the course.

10/9 The due date for the summary description of your organization has been changed to Friday 11/2.

9/21 The reading by Daft for this week is not up on cameo (as of 5PM today).  They were supposed to get it fixed by today but haven't yet.  You can get copies of this reading either from the reserves in the library or you can pick up one of the copies I've attached to my office door.  I'm sorry I wasn't able to get this on-line, but the library indicated that they would definitely have it up by today.

9/19 Some people have pointed out that they can't access the on-line course reserves from off-campus.  John informed me that the following site allows you access from off-campus (http://access.web.cmu.edu/), so try it if you're having trouble.

9/19 One of the readings for next week is not available on cameo.  I'll have it up on this website by tomorrow night or Friday morning.

9/19 The groups for the project are the following:

Group 1: Daniel, Jeff, Izyana, Polly, Robert

Group 2: Anna, Prynt, Rena, Rico, Ruth

Group 3: Angela, Michael B, Michael T, Nilay, Nina

Group 4: Stephen, Phoenix, Sunny, John, Chi

Group 5: Cary, Cooper, Liza, Ronald, Tee

You should meet over the next few days to discuss what organization you want to select.  Your group should select an organization and send me a short descriptive e-mail by next Friday (9/28).  See the schedule and syllabus for more information.

9/19 I have updated the "People" page.

9/13  Because of the events on Tuesday all university classes were cancelled.  I hope that everyone's friends and family are ok.

We will meet as planned next Tuesday.  You should still do the readings for next week and submit the homework assignment to me by Monday night at midnight.  If this will be a problem for you, please let me know before Monday.

9/6 Most of you have made appointments to come see me and done so.  Those of you who haven't should do so soon.

Remember to send me a picture (via e-mail) for the course website.  This can be (almost) any picture of you.

8/28  Welcome to 88-354!

Please make sure you schedule an appointment with me in the next 10 days (before 9/7).  This will just be a short 10-15 minute meeting for me to find out a little about you, your interests and background, and what you hope to get out of the course.  When you come to meet with me, please bring a picture of you for the website (or you can e-mail me one).  Also, when you come to the meeting, be prepared to tell me what your favorite organization and pizza topping(s) are.

8/28  In the next week or two, I will put you in groups for the project.  Meanwhile, you should begin thinking about what organization you would like to cover.  Here are some resources that you might use to look up information on organizations.  You can also go directly to that organization's website if they have one, look up the website for any groups (e.g., industry groups, non-profit coalitions or alliances) that the organization may belong to, or do a broad web search on the organization's name.

1) Lexis-Nexis Academic Universe -- Business search

2) Researching Companies on the Internet

3) Hoover's Online

4) The library's website lists several research databases that you can access on-line.
