69-142 designed to allow Carnegie Mellon students and staff an escape from the high tech campus world by stepping back into the slower paced past (though in a manner that used to be somewhat violent). The course teaches olympic style foil fencing and is targeted for individuals who have never fenced before. No prior experience or knowlege is required. The course provides the basic equipment: foil, mask, jacket, glove, and underarm protector. Students must provide suitable shoes and clothing.

Day One Only -- class meets in Thistle Gym -- enter through the Fencing Room

Equipment is assigned and the class starts working the in full equipment first day on footwork fundamentals, point practice, and distance drills. Missing the first day of classes is a very bad idea. If you are not there, your equipment will be allocated to a member of the waiting list and you will have to drop the class.

CMU ID Cards are required for entry into Skibo Gym -- there are no exceptions to this rull for students, staff, or faculty. You must bring your ID card to get into the gym!
