69-142 designed to allow Carnegie Mellon students and staff an escape from the high tech campus world by stepping back into the slower paced past (though in a manner that used to be somewhat violent). The course teaches olympic style foil fencing and is targeted for individuals who have never fenced before. No prior experience or knowlege is required. The course provides the basic equipment: foil, mask, chest protector, jacket, glove, and underarm protector. Students must provide suitable shoes and clothing.

Day One Only -- class meets in Thistle Gym -- enter through the Fencing Room

Equipment is assigned and the class starts working the in full equipment first day on footwork fundamentals, point practice, and distance drills. Missing the first day of classes is a very bad idea.

CMU ID Cards are required for entry into Skibo Gym -- there are no exceptions to this rule for students, staff, or faculty. You must bring your ID card to get into the gym!
