Place Identity in Digital Productions

  1. "Ideas, goals, and preconceptions":
An individual preparation for identifying participants' agendas and their common ground. From this we will build a class semantic map and thesaurus.

  2. "Tapping environmental predispositions":
A group project with an emphasis on research. Contextual inquiry into a chosen activity.

  3. "Geowares":
A solo project with an emphasis on invention. Content design for location-awareness.

  4. "Assimilation":
A pair project with an emphasis on social adapatation. Contrasting scenarios of usage based on criteria of appropriateness.

  5. Final Project:
A full-scale creative project, from storyboards to mockups, individually or in groups. About the value of design for a ubiquitous computing application involving environmental knowledge. The specifics and tone of this will emerge through the semester, and criteria for selecting a topic and evaluating results will be established at the start of the project.
