A Facade for the Miller Gallery
Working in teams of two, you are to design a facade for the Miller Galllery that engages the arcade of the Purnell Center . You are free to interpret and design for the activities that you envision to occur in front of and/ or under the facade/ roof.
The Miller Gallery is planning a renovation of the façade of our current three-story building in the North end of Purnell Center for the Arts in order to create a more visible presence on campus and more effective support for gallery and exhibition signage. We are looking to develop a functional and contemporary addition that distinctly represents the gallery's aesthetic identity yet integrates with the existing yellow brick architecture. Consider how the public will locate the gallery during the day and night from Forbes Ave. and on campus (from the UC building and from either end of Purnell). Consider how content from the exhibitions can be represented outside to passersby, in a way that is secure and safe, but easy to change with each exhibition.
